The Future…

This article is dedicated to all those who are protesting against Senate Bill 968: the Protect IP Act that is coming before the U.S. Senate next week. If this bill is passed it will jeopardize internet freedom and shift the power of the independent web into the hands of corporations…
“It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds” -Samuel Adams
Whether you turn on the television, syndicated/internet radio, go on Yahoo/Google News, or pick up a Newspaper, you will be demonstrated through some form of communication or another, that the World you live in so peacefully, and enjoy so much… is dangerous and full of chaos! Then these well endorsed and respected “publications”, will tell you about all of your tax money the “haves” are spending on new and better things, you will never see. On some occasions, these schemes get trimmed and re-edited into never ending scandals that go on for decades. The 0.1% spread impressions of knowing everything, while orchestrating everything, and pretend to let you and I in on deep/traumatic secrets of the World; as though these deep pockets we stress so much to mention, have the decency to share their utmost secrets with us. Then, these same rich criminals who systemically rob innocent victims, go and reinvest their profits on the captivating headlines they will be able to sell you (through Corporate Mergers, Investments and Networks Worldwide). Whilst never mentioning those who truly profited from the crime, since that would obviously contrast with their interest to increase their own profits, as well as decrease their projected innocence! They had no problem enriching themselves off of the misery that caused 9/11, or the bombs they made money on while bombing dissident guts out of Bagdad. These financial opportunists are forever protected and concealed behind the thick drapes of financial secrecy, and “Ivy” League brotherhood (and now sisterhood). When true and honest brothers and sisters starve in streets, dark allies, prison cells, riot because of famine in the streets, get intoxicated by deadly corporate chemicals, get plundered by Government enforced drugs which make huge profits on the black, grey, and white market, or the thousands of other ways, poor people might die, or suffer unjustly, every single day.
Somewhere beneath these satellite infested heavens, polluted clouds, and chemically induced grey skies, on lands and shores we all share (or don’t share due to privatization), live a minority. This minority is disorganized and spread out far and wide. It is composed of people who have the will power, to share with those who will listen, and to those who chose to peer far beyond programmed corporate propaganda, and its mainstreamed artifice. And although there are many things to criticize in this World, tonight I will try to keep my narration narrowed down, and my mind from straying too far away, from the subject of this article (even though these ideologies are so interrelated with the causalities of a million and one different issues): What does an Anarchist think of Zeitgeist, the Venus Project, and other endeavors of such nature?
Well, I’ll start completely off base, by saying that Zbigniew Brzezinski (who likes and is liked only because he makes money for the War Machine Mongers), is part of the Prague Process, which already has a dirty little reputation with underground Communist movements. I mention this seemingly unimportant fact, only because the wealthy people, and Elite deciders of this World, are leading billions of people, into another false debate/divisionary tactic, which will be aimed at dividing people. These tactics will try to divide the people of the World once again, between those who disagree with Capitalism, and those who encourage all forms of Capitalism (even the most degrading ones). In layman’s terms slaves and non-slaves, submissive and non-submissive, dissident and non-dissident, good and/or evil.
It is quite clear that we are being forced to relive the antics of many past political/social debacles, which inevitably lead Countries/Empires directly towards the steep and precarious cliffs which cause Revolutions, Civil Wars and Wars; while we (the mass) are lead as usual, towards whatever future those who manipulate the masses have deemed necessary. No matter how wrong and one sided their decisions may be, or how many innocent people they will kill in the name of what they will pretend is “good”.
Our collective reality is actually far less grim than what the rich gain so much trying to conceal. The truth is that the 7 Billion (and more) people who populate Earth, can all liberate themselves from their intrinsic desire for Dictators, Kings, Politicians, Leaders, Elites. Those functions are only useful in a World, pressured by great monetary inequality and oppression. We know how to remedy ourselves from artificially imposed social pressures, which in debt, enslave, and make the majority of us miserable on a regular basis.
In that sense, Anarchists would gladly share with ZM and VP, and I think vice versa since I have had the surprise to discover that a lot of ZMers are Anarchists at heart. Others are Scientologists, but that is a different story.
Anarchism can be mislead since we do not have a bible, or need for one, and therefore cannot always combat/well-organised strident efforts by Fascists (backed or not backed by the CIA and Co.), who always have another ideology they will gladly advertise and share in the form of scripture, very high priced Documentary or in a book. Anarchism has the advantage of absolute freedom of choice, so like all ideologies there are pros and cons, and we must continue to have the freedom to defend a wide variety of issues, and not be consumed by one which has been fixed/rigged/corrupted.
I totally agree with what Peter Joseph and Jacque Fresco say, most of the time. Especially when they say that we shouldn’t take them for gods, idolize them, or take and do everything they say to the letter. There is so much false commentary surrounding these movements, we cannot yet argue the pros and cons of such projects and ideas. We can argue these new concepts between ourselves, never to be heard, and/or we can dream a dream, and one day, have our dream be molded into another UN World Bank backed Corporatized/manipulated endeavor to enrich a few, who outfoxed once again, the many.
I assure you Zbigniew has not yet opened up these discussion to the Mainstream, or Noam Chomsky for that matter (since as Anarchists we must also criticize the mistakes of our own). What is the difference between Zbigniew and Chomsky? Zip… the mainstream is jam packed with personalities like Bill O’Reilly and Jon Stewart, who at the end of the day, both go out and support Israel’s War on Iran, and are both funded by the same Warmongers (whether its Fox or Comedy Central through Time Warner or MIT vs. the Pentagon)!
Something which bugs me about the Venus Project, are all the buildings to be built anew? This at first glimpse, can understandably remind some of the poor Communists, who were forced to work, or be sent to the gulag, if they did not build their future “Communist Utopia” (which ended up meaning more weapons and wealth for the Elites and Victors of War). Let’s not forget that the Soviets had an Elite and a Dictator. We should also reverse the argument, because the Venus Project could also lead us to a Capitalist automated classist dystopia like “Metropolis”. But here again I veer into demagogy and false debates, when there are more Scientific ways to examine our World’s past, present and future, through Anthropological or Sociological views. Those in power keep us guessing and have their options open, so that we never know exactly what they are up to.
The Julius Caesars of this World want us to be divided and conquered. They even have the audacity to block education, studying many advanced subjects consecutively like Leonardo Da Vinci or Galileo, is anti-intellectual in the 21st Century( imagine that). Obviously you would need money to fund such uselessness, and have to be indebted for years to come. Would these studies not actually increase our collective understanding? Or is the Pentagon and the opportunist wing of Academia right? More Wars… More Money… More Empires… and Greed is good? I don’t know… it seems the World pretends to combat ignorance, while letting it fester, deep down in the bowels of Capitalism. Our Global Education System is a very good example of that, because even Harvard and MIT do not educate against “Bling Bling and Bang Bang”, they actually enforce those types of policies; not very humane, scientific, or educational, but especially very hypocritical, as humans who are given the advantage of thinking themselves superior, usually end up being.
Now that I have mentioned the threat, which can opportunistically leech itself on to ideas such as a Resource Based Economy (very much like today, where one Country has more resources, therefore more power than another). The very idea that Gold and Caviar are sold on the same market as food, education and housing, is just criminal. Yet Economists are paid to marvel at such markets. There are many people around the World who have College Degrees and no job, or instead occupy a low paying job, and very few Economists to tell them why. All Countries and Empires can only withhold the luxurious lifestyles of so many people, before it becomes plagued by poverty, and massive inequality. These “new” jobs as Peter Joseph keeps on explaining, are not going to employ everyone, they are actually going to decrease the demand for educated people, and increase the availability of uneducated criminality and joblessness. Or what 19th Century London was like, debtors prisons and all, and much more!
But again we reach another point of division. Some think that Gods, Militaries and Elites will still be necessary. And there are others who dare to venture, on uncharted territory. We must all be aware that our Mainstream apparatus, tries so hard to sway us far from strategies and overlooked mistakes sadly granted, due to the amount of secrecy which envelopes these peoples day jobs, maintaining the apparatus.
The truth of the matter is that we have enough housing space as it is, to transform our world into a communal playground for all. Where people can educate themselves in whatever they are most interested in. They can help others profit from whatever resource, if it is available it should be shared, if it is rare it should be voted on, like good articles on Wikipedia. The rich today eat turtle soup , wild antelope, and caviar, while their governments’ bomb and pillage the beaches where turtles lay their precious eggs, militarize and rig with explosives the very plains where the antelopes flock, and they also plague (with mercury and other chemicals) the sturgeon’s eggs we call caviar. They themselves are too greedy to understand what they dominate. Centuries of Slavery built the beautiful World they inherited, and now it is being decimated by ignorance, and myopically small margins of profitability.
So in that sense ZM has become a driving force in steering anarchist ideologies, towards a more comprehensible understanding of what our collective future ought to look like. Communities/Societies build great things, and all individuals should be able to take advantage of the great things their communities/societies of the World have made; all this, without the socio-economic agendas which constantly try to pressure the “have nots”, into evermore submission. If you want equality you have to take out Elitism, Monetarism, and segregated access to valuable resources, if resources are rare, they should be saved only for projects everyone can agree and vote on, no matter where they are in the World. And with technology we can develop ways to work less, but as long as we have mechanisms in place which breed social inequality, it is obvious that inequality will continue to haunt us, no matter how technologically advanced we become.
I unfortunately am part of those few people who think, or have the time and tenacity to think about how we can develop such a place for all. And I doubt we need many new buildings for now, when we already have so much inhabitable space, we don’t already occupy. We might need new forms of transportation, such as Mag-Lev trains (high speed transportation) or renewable forms of making energy, such as perpetuating energy or increasing the output (using less input), but I am not a scientist and I can’t do this work alone. We might need to imagine machines which can link up agriculture to automation. We might need to increase food production, but that doesn’t mean we will need huge food centers, for all to get in line for their “fair share” of the same food. We might need different lifestyles, but we won’t need laws to regulate or dictate our lifestyles, especially if none of us are constrained by greed, hate and jealousy. We will have more time to help and think about those who still get oppressed, and we will all be able to vote in favor of helping, those in an unfavorable situation.
But I can assure you, we will not need to build more palaces, there are already more than enough in this World. We will not need to build more elitist forms of transportation, energy production, mass consumeratism, education, and health services. Services which segregate by wealth, skin color, race, species, will become outdated. These are the dreams we can dream together, and no dictator, leader, strategist, elitist should have the advantage of discussing these ideas solely, in our place. This is our World, and all we need is to get it back peacefully, because the rich could never fathom inventing such a beautiful and communal idea, not with all the money and PHDs in the World.
Just a quick note to thank you for putting together this thoughtful / well-written article. Please keep up the good work!
Thank you that means a lot!!!
great read. fully agree with many points especially those in relation to not needing to build new buildings in order to live in a better world. we have the means to do so as is. its the mentality and systems that need to change not the physical make up of our societies
Thanks David!!!
Good article!
For the most part, especially these days, I keep my hair splitting for people who can handle those kinds of debates… as for the most part, I stick to what is in common. And indeed, this Earth can be a playground for all. But we have some serious invisible borders to get through.
About Venus… I wonder how those circle shacks will hold up here in the North. Sure, in sunny Florida… must be nice. Either way, I’d be up to help build such a city… albeit I probably wouldn’t dwell there myself.
I think the biggest thing would be to have that stupendous satisfaction of knowing that all base necessities of life have been met around the World. That would be incredible to behold.
…and I’m not sure how that’s possible with out a final lynching… er… uhm… kinda joking, but seriously… as a symbol… out with the old, eh?
